Below is a conversation thread between us so we can
all stay updated immediately on this project. If you email me, I will try to post it here asap. (remember, new entries
are added to the top so, as with any email or thread, read from the bottom up.)
From Mack:
ok so i have tried to work as discreetly as possible and i
think we are ok. :-) so anyways grannie has alot more than first thought. as you can tell in the pictures she
has salt and pepper shakers, covered vegetable bowl, gravy boat and plate underneath, creamer, teapot, large platter, round
cake plate (the best piece in the set besides the teapot), small platter (has really bad crack but its the original piece,
medium size platter, and then the small plate that the gravy boat sits on. so from my studies of grannies stories i
have learned that originally she had pretty much everything ever made. This was their first set of dishes that they used for
years so everything got broke besides what is left and some of the stuff left has been glued back together (pepper shaker
and lid of teapot handle). She cant remember if it was a set of four, six, or eight place settings BUT I SUGGEST that when
the pieces are purchased that we only buy a set of two because she doesnt have tons of room and they wont use it often so
it doesnt need to sit in a cupbard that cant be displayed. But anyways originally she had plates, cereal bowls, tea cup and
saucer, and a sugar bowl. im not sure what other pieces that she also had but she already has a great collection so she doesnt
need just tons. So tonight we took the plundge. Grannie allowed me to clean out her china cabinet!!! SO IT LOOKS
AWSOME NOW!!! I have an attached pic. IDK how but i was able to snap all these pics when THEY werent looking lol. ;-)
So it has more stuff in it right now than just her other china but i will remove it when we get more stuf at christmas.
Now REMEMBER her china cabinet is not very big and its in a corner so its akwardly shaped. SO DONT GET ANY PIECES THAT ARE
VERY BIG AND PLEASE PLEASE DONT BUY ANY MORE PLACE SETTINGS THAN FOUR BECAUSE I WOULD HATE FOR MONEY TO BE SPENT TO JUST PUT
IT IN A CLOSED CABINET BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN HER CHINA CABINET!!! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT!!! Anything
yall need just ask. I think i have covered everything i know but i will let you know if i find out anything else. Mack
From Denise:
Hey peeps! Well, I've set up a chart and gathered all the data I can and created a webpage on my website for
this little project. Since it's to remain "discreet" I've
kinda "tucked" it in a not so obvious place on my website. we don't want mom to find out about this until AFTER
christmas. Below is a link you can click on to go right to the page: and here is how to actually
get to it: * click on: My Back Porch * click on: My Recipe
Box
* scroll down to just below the photos and click on:

If you are not interested in this project then you don't have to keep getting emails from me. If
you ARE interested in being a part of this project, then check out this page and then let me know what and how you want to
do. To avoid too much shipping costs due to multi-orders,
once we decide what we want to do, we could make just 1-2 combined orders if you like. again, just let me know.... Denise From Mack: Nee Nee i really
think that this is the same pattern. Mandy and I both looked at it and agree that it is. It's just because you can't
see the detail as well in it as in the photos you took that it looks different. But I think it is it!! :-) From Denise:
Thanks Mack, I knew you were the man for the job!!!
Grannie
has FOUND her platter!!! I was talking to her about my having the Morton
Christmas here at my house this year and how I was thinking about using my ivy china like I did that year we had Thanksgiving
at my house and in the course of the conversation I slipped in a question about her platter. She told me she had found it.
Also on that same note, it is more important than we may realize to encourage her to serve the
Turkey on that platter this year even though it's not at her house. I sensed a little "desire" to do that from
her but she wasn't sure how things will be this year since its not at her house. (she's a trooper but as we all know,
she's struggling with the transition) Maybe when she sees we want her to serve it on the platter she has always served
on it will make her happy. I'm going to create a little list in a word document that we can use to keep up with this little
project and will send it out asap. One more thing Mack, before we get head over heals into this I need you to do something. It was quite a process for
me to comb through all the different patterns. Just when I was about to quit I noticed that on the second website there were
several patterns that are extremely similar. Please go there under the eggshell-nautilus designs and confirm that I do indeed have the exact pattern. you will see what I'm talking about when
you get there. I was surprised at how many different versions there are. I will feel better if I get your opinion on this.
happy Chinaing!! lol Denise From: Mack:
sorry lots of emails lol. but i
noticed on the bottom site that there is only one sugar bowl left and i dont
think grannie has this so i will let you know asap but i think it will be nice to go with her creamer.
so definetley keep it in mind.
From:
Mack: ~~~~~~ ok i am on one of these sites now and i KNOW she has the
salt and pepper set, the covered vegetable bowl, big
and little platter, creamer, and gravy boat. I am almost
absolutely positive she has these items. I will however double check. From: Mack: ~~~~~~~ Well we all know she has the gravy boat. Now we have one small
platter and we used to have the big platter but when we put it up two years ago we forgot where we put it and can not find
it. I will discreetly work on trying to track this stuff down and to try to get her to clean out her china cabinet so she
can display these wonderful pieces and whatever else we get her for christmas. Oh i also
think she has a bowl with lid like what you always bring macaroni in. I will try the best I can to find everything and get
it out and put it in her cabinet. I think this idea is absolutely awesome. I remember talking
to tabi about it and am very excited to help!!! Anything you need just tell me!!!
From: Denise:
Hey all, Hey all,
We all seem to have a difficult time finding something to get Mom and Dad for Christmas. Well, After 3 years (Thanksgiving
06') I have found a couple of websites for replacements for mom's china. Should anyone want to get her a few pieces.
I'm not real sure what she actually has on hand at the moment of the original set (Mack can you
help with this DISCREETLY???) Mack could you email us your findings? Also, should anyone want
to order some pieces please share this so she won't end up with a bunch of something and none of something else. I've
attached the photos that Tabi and I took 3 years ago and below are a couple of the links that I've found.
